LYRICAFEST is a two-week intensive chamber music festival, located in Chatham NJ, 45 minutes west of New York City. Five to six string ensembles will be formed from college, graduate and advanced high school students who will have prepared in advance an assigned work. Each group will perform in master classes, outreach venues and a final public concert.
The festival is held in a 100 year old mansion which was featured in the Sony Pictures film, Imaginary Heroes.
LYRICAFEST's intimate setting, home-cooked meals, and nightly sight reading with faculty are just a few of its unique aspects. Last year's participants represented students from the Juilliard, Eastman, Longy, Indiana, Hartt Schools of Music, the New England, Oberlin and San Fransisco Conservatories.
LYRICAFEST's mission is to foster the development of chamber music playing for pre-professionals in an intensive, intimate non-competitive environment. Daily interaction with faculty both musically and personally in the setting of a beautiful home helps to realize the goals of LYRICAFEST.
